Horse races are one of the things that I have always wanted to see. I remember watching old movies with good looking sophisticated couples enjoying a day at the races and ever since then I’ve always dreamed about going to the horse races. Thanks to The Blogger Program and Sandown Park Racecourse my dream will come true. I will be going to Sandown Park Coral Eclipse Day courtesy of The Jockey Club. It will be the most prestigious summer race day. I am super excited.
I am not into sports generally but horse racing is a different story. Horseracing is the second biggest spectator sport in Britain, 6 million attend the races each year. And did you know that it’s one of the most ancient sports? The Eclipse was first run in 1886 for £10,000, making it the most valuable horserace ever run in Britain at the time. Oh I am so excited just thinking about it, can’t wait to choose my favourite horse and hope he’ll be the wining one.
Of course the first question after getting tickets is how to get ready for the horse races? A race day is a great chance to dress up. Especially for me as a mum of a three month old baby, it’s my time to shine. What you need to wear depends on your ticket type and if it’s flat or jump season. If you have premier tickets, dress code is smart casual, no ripped jeans or trainers. For other ticket holders, dress code is more relaxed. If you are going Jump racing, dress code depends on the weather as it takes place through colder months. During flat racing, dress code is smarter and usually ladies wear fascinators, although it’s not obligatory.
As it’s my first time at the races and I have premier tickets (you can get your ticket here) I decided to go for an elegant white lace dress and white flower fascinator. I am a big lover of white as you probably already know so it’s no surprise I chose a white dress. I am still not sure about how I’ll style my hair but I will probably do some nice waves as it looks more sophisticated than straight – well at least I think so. I am quite stubborn with make-up and pretty much have it the same on every day out. Long and black eyelashes are my make-up essentials and of course, pink lips. I just hope the weather on 8th July will be nice and my makeup and hair stays in place. Fingers crossed and hope to see you all there.
