My son’s room used to feel a little lifeless. Books spilled from every surface, clothes had no real home, and although it served its purpose, the space lacked character. He’s always been a dreamer—sketching, reading, collecting little treasures—but his room didn’t reflect any of that magic.
I wanted to create a space that felt inspiring, practical, and just a little bit special. Somewhere he could grow into, but also enjoy right now. After lots of browsing, we found Angel & Boho and instantly fell in love with their timeless furniture. Their pieces are handcrafted, made to order, and customizable—from paint colours to handles—so you can create something that truly feels unique.
We chose two key pieces:
A Shaker Library Modular Bookcase with ladder (see it here) because it has always been my son’s dream to have a bookcase with a ladder. He beams every time he climbs it to fetch a book.
A matching wardrobe for clothes, school supplies, and “other bits.” To make it extra practical, we opted for lockable handles. With a curious little sibling who loves pulling everything out of cupboards, this was a lifesaver! Now my older son has a safe place to keep his things—and his little secrets—without worrying about them being scattered across the floor.
We chose a classic black finish, which feels bold and grown-up while still fitting beautifully into the room.
The difference was instant. Suddenly, the room had personality. The bookcase and wardrobe aren’t just furniture, they’re statement pieces that give the room presence. The black paint contrasts beautifully with green feature wall, and the ladder makes the whole setup feel adventurous and fun.
Now, instead of piles of books everywhere, everything has a place. Shelves can be rearranged as his collection grows, and the wardrobe keeps the space tidy. The ladder has become part of his daily routine—whether for grabbing a book at bedtime or simply climbing up and down like it’s his own mini library.
Why We Loved Working with Angel & Boho:
- Made to Order: You can pick colours, handles, and finishes that suit your space.
- Practical Touches: Lockable cupboards = no more toddler “explorer mess.”
- Quality: Solid wood, beautiful joinery, and the kind of furniture that will last well into adulthood.
- Modular Design: Can be delivered in two parts (top and base).
Tips If You’re Planning a Similar Makeover:
- Think Long-Term: Invest in pieces that can grow with your child. A classic design in a timeless colour will adapt as their style changes.
- Add Personality with Details: The choice of handles, paint finish, or even a ladder can make the furniture feel truly theirs.
- Plan for Siblings: If you’ve got little ones, features like lockable handles can save a lot of chaos.
- Balance Fun with Function: The ladder was a dream for my son, but it also encourages him to keep books organised since he enjoys using it.
His room finally feels like his. It’s organised yet playful, stylish yet practical. Best of all, he has a place that reflects who he is—and maybe even who he’s becoming.
I can’t recommend Angel & Boho enough if you’re looking to create a room that’s not just functional but full of character.
