Our family recently had the incredible opportunity to be hosted by the InterContinental Hotel in Marseille, and it truly was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we walked into the elegant lobby, to the breathtaking views from our private terrace, the InterContinental effortlessly combined luxury, history, and family-friendly charm.
The InterContinental Marseille – Hôtel Dieu is more than just a luxury hotel, it’s a piece of Marseille’s history. Originally established as the Hôtel-Dieu, a hospital in the 18th century, the building has been carefully restored, blending its historic grandeur with modern elegance. Located on a hill, the hotel offers stunning views over the old port and Marseille’s beautiful skyline. As soon as we stepped into the building, we felt a sense of awe, with the towering ceilings, marble flooring, and intricate architectural details transporting us to another era.
We stayed in a spacious room with a huge private terrace that looked out over Marseille’s port and rooftops. Every morning, we awoke to the sight of the city bathed in sunlight, and each evening, we enjoyed the glowing lights from our terrace. It was a perfect space for unwinding as a couple, and it became a favorite spot for the kids to play and relax.
One of the highlights of our stay was the incredible dining experience. From breakfast to dinner, every meal was a culinary treat. We started each day with a lavish breakfast spread—pastries, fresh fruits, delicious cheeses, and warm French bread. The kids were thrilled to find pancakes and freshly squeezed juices, while we indulged in fresh espresso and French pastries.
The hotel made sure that our children had as much to enjoy as we did. Our older son had a blast playing domino and card games provided by the hotel, while our younger one loved the colouring books and puzzles. The InterContinental Marseille had a falcon show during our stay which was a unique experience for the kids. They were amazed to see the bird up close! The swimming pool was another favourite spot. Both kids couldn’t get enough of it.
When the little ones were asleep, sitting with a glass of bubbly and overlooking the city’s skyline was a cherished moment of peace and beauty for us
Our experience at the InterContinental Hotel in Marseille was everything we hoped for in a family getaway. This hotel offered us not only luxury but also the warmth and hospitality that made our children feel just as welcomed and pampered as we did. Whether you’re visiting Marseille as a couple, with friends, or with family, the InterContinental is an unforgettable destination where history, elegance, and hospitality come together to create a truly memorable stay.
